Winter course projects

Although temperatures do not suggest it at moment winter approaches and our greens staff have started work on the winter plan. Listed below are the major items that the team will be working on.

2nd Green - work has stared on an extension to the back right corner of the green. Due to the slope on the front of the green pin positions are becoming compromised and this additional area will ease this problem as well as give a different view to the approach
9th Hole - the far side of the ditch has been seeded with wild flower seed and we hope to see the benefits next season. A new left hand green side bunker is being incorporated which will further enhance the approach view of the green and also stop any shots hit left of the green bouncing through into the tree line or ditch
Tee Improvements - The Ladies 15th Tee will be extended and re turfed and the Mens 15th Tee will be levelled. The New Mens 8th Tee will be extended. The Mens 5th Tee will be extended backwards. A temporary Tee mat has been purchased and may be in use whilst work on the tees is being carried out.
Completion of all of the above depends on weather conditions and hopefully a kind winter will allow us to see through the planned work. We also appreciate your patience as disruption to holes will impact on play at some point

Network Rail - Work continues and is behind schedule and the reinstating of the OOB fence on the right of the 5th is on hold until we are nearer work completion. Further tree and shrub planting are due to take place this month. All areas were agreed by the club within the original plans. We believe that planting at this time of year should have been the original process as the lack of watering through the drought period would not have been an issue. Network Rail have agreed to assess the 1st trench of planting in April next year where certain trees or planting that have not survived will be replaced.

Fingers crossed for a dry winter so that golf can be enjoyed. Your continued help with observing the measures in place for trollies and buggies and the roped areas will hopefully result in benefits for next season
